SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS

Money Talk Series Overview (0:00 – 2:21)

The episode begins with a bold assertion: it’s not about the amount of money you have, but how you manage it. Shani Tené, the host, emphasizes that even with limited resources, proper money management is key to financial success. She highlights global statistics, noting that many people live on just a few dollars a day, which underscores the relative wealth of her audience. After introducing herself and the podcast “Eternal Wealth,” where finance meets faith, Shani sets the stage for a discussion on effective budgeting. She promises to share practical tips, a helpful resource, and an actionable step to improve budgeting skills by the end of the episode. Shani also acknowledges the common challenges people face when budgeting, such as fear of restriction, overwhelming debt, or impulsive spending. She reassures listeners that they are in the right place to find solutions.

Mystery Guest (2:21 – 5:51)

Shani introduces the ongoing “Money Talk Series,” which aims to normalize conversations about money. She explains that listeners can submit anonymous stories, and she selects one to discuss in each episode, offering solutions based on biblical principles. Today’s mystery guest is a 29-year-old marketing coordinator named Jason (a pseudonym), who earns $60,000 annually and has monthly expenses of around $2,500. Despite his comfortable salary, Jason struggles with budgeting, finding it tedious and overwhelming. He dreams of buying a condo but feels stuck renting due to his inability to save. Shani empathizes with Jason, acknowledging the challenges of transitioning from renting to homeownership. She invites listeners who relate to Jason’s struggles to share their support in the comments and promises to provide three tips to improve budgeting.

Bible Story (5:51 – 11:58)

Before diving into the budgeting tips, Shani introduces a Bible story from Proverbs 6:6-8, focusing on the ant as an example of diligence and foresight. She explains that Proverbs is filled with practical wisdom, much of which is drawn from nature. The story of the ant highlights the importance of planning and preparation. Despite having no boss or overseer, ants work diligently to prepare for the future, storing provisions in summer for the winter. Shani uses this example to stress the importance of self-motivation, integrity, and wise management in budgeting. She reminds her audience that budgeting requires consistent effort, even when no one is watching. Just like the ant instinctively prepares for times of scarcity, people should budget and save during times of abundance. Shani encourages her listeners to start budgeting with whatever resources they have, no matter how limited, and to adopt a proactive approach to managing their finances. The wisdom of the ant serves as a reminder that small, consistent efforts in budgeting can lead to significant benefits over time.

Tip #1: Reduce Expenses by Changing Your Perspective (12:15 – 14:26)

The first tip to effective budgeting is reducing expenses, but with a twist. Instead of focusing on cutting out things you enjoy, the host encourages shifting your perspective to see it as saving rather than cutting. One practical way to do this is by taking advantage of loyalty programs. For example, Chevron’s loyalty program offers $1 off per gallon of gas for the next three visits, which could save about $45 in a month. The host emphasizes that by utilizing various loyalty programs, you could realistically save between $100 to $200 monthly without sacrificing your favorite indulgences. The key is to start thinking of reducing expenses as finding creative ways to save rather than depriving yourself.

Tip #2: Implement a Zero-Based Budgeting Approach (14:27 – 16:25)

The second tip introduces the zero-based budgeting approach, which involves assigning every dollar a specific job at the beginning of each month until you have nothing left unallocated. This doesn’t mean spending all your money, but rather ensuring every dollar is accounted for, whether it’s going toward savings, bills, or entertainment. This method forces you to be intentional with your money and helps you prioritize spending according to your financial goals. The host explains how to get started with zero-based budgeting by calculating your monthly income, listing all expenses, and then assigning your income to each category until every dollar is allocated. Throughout the month, tracking your spending against your budget categories ensures you stay on track. This approach offers flexibility while providing a clear picture of your finances.

FREE Tool to Boost Investing (16:26 – 17:27)

Before moving on to the third budgeting tip, the host introduces a free tool to help boost your investing efforts. In partnership with Coachline, they offer a free “Get Started with Stocks” guide, which provides actionable steps to help you understand stocks, determine an investing budget, choose which stocks to buy, and open a brokerage account. This guide is aimed at helping you get started with investing without feeling overwhelmed. To access this free guide, listeners must subscribe to the podcast, reinforcing the importance of growing wealth through investing.

Tip #3: Use a Budgeting Tool (17:28 – 19:39)

The third tip for effective budgeting is using a budgeting tool to help you stick to your budget. While Excel spreadsheets are still useful, the host suggests embracing modern technology with apps that automate the budgeting process. These apps can track your spending in real time and categorize expenses automatically, providing digital accountability by sending alerts when you’re about to overspend. The host’s favorite budgeting tool is Monarch Money, which offers a complete picture of your financial health. Monarch Money’s personalized insights can analyze your spending patterns and suggest areas where you can cut back or save more. By using this tool, you’ll be more likely to stick to your budget and achieve your financial goals.

Recap (19:40 – 21:07)

In the recap, the host summarizes the key points discussed in the episode. The journey began with Jason, who struggled to budget effectively due to a perceived low income. The story of the ant from Proverbs 6:6-8 was tied in to illustrate the importance of a proactive and disciplined approach to budgeting. The three tips to effective budgeting were then revisited: Tip #1 was about reducing expenses by saving through loyalty programs, Tip #2 was implementing a zero-based budgeting approach where every dollar gets a job, and Tip #3 was using a budgeting tool like Monarch Money to help you stick to your budget.

BONUS Weekly Action (21:08 – 22:12)

As a reward for staying until the end of the episode, the host assigns a weekly action: signing up for one loyalty program that will help you save money. Whether it’s a gas or grocery loyalty program, the host encourages listeners to start saving today. To show commitment, listeners are asked to leave a comment with the hashtag #LoyaltyProgram or share which loyalty program they are already using.

Prayer (22:13 – 23:41)

The episode concludes with a prayer, where the host thanks God for the listeners and prays for their continued engagement with the podcast. The host prays that any anxiety or hesitation around budgeting is released from the listeners’ lives and that they are blessed with financial increase and opportunities to advance the kingdom. The prayer also asks for God’s guidance in helping listeners become good stewards of their money, providing the accountability they need to budget wisely and transform their financial lives. The prayer ends with an affirmation of faith and gratitude.

Invitation to a Relationship with God (23:41 – 25:04)

In closing, the host offers listeners an opportunity to enter into a relationship with God, especially for those who may feel their finances or lives are in disarray. She assures them that no matter their past mistakes, they can be redeemed and renewed in Christ. The host leads a brief prayer for salvation, inviting listeners to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Those who prayed the prayer are congratulated and welcomed into the kingdom of heaven. The host encourages them to click a link in the description to receive a special gift to help them start their faith journey.

Final Remarks (25:04 – 25:42)

The host wraps up the episode by celebrating those who have given their lives to Christ and encourages listeners to subscribe and share the episode to spread the message. She humorously attempts to sign off with her usual phrase, “Peace, love, and eternal wealth,” stumbling over the words but inviting listeners to try it themselves. The episode concludes with an invitation to visit the host’s website for show notes, resources, and to join an exclusive community of like-minded individuals on their financial journey.

TRANSCRIPT

(0:00) It’s not that you don’t have enough money, you aren’t managing the money you do have wisely. (0:06) There is approximately 2 billion people in the world who live on less than $3 a day, (0:12) 50% of people live on less than $5 a day, and about 70% of the world lives on less than $10 a day. (0:23) So compared to the rest of the world, you are wealthy.

(0:29) What’s up? (0:30) I’m your favorite money coach, Shani Tené. (0:32) Welcome to Eternal Wealth, where finance meets faith. (0:37) If you’re new here, be sure to click that subscribe button.

(0:40) You’re not going to want to miss another show. (0:42) In today’s episode, we are talking all about effective ways to budget. (0:49) The budget word, budget, budget.

(0:51) And so make sure you stick around to the end because I’ll also share one resource (0:56) that will help you budget better and one action that you can take (1:01) this week to see immediate results with budgeting. (1:05) So my question for you is, do you have a difficult time sticking to a budget? (1:10) Maybe it’s like lack of knowledge. (1:13) You just simply don’t know where to start or how to create a budget that works for you.

(1:20) Or maybe it’s fear of restriction. (1:23) You associate budgeting with deprivation and limitations and worry that a budget (1:29) will prevent you from enjoying life or spending money on things that you love. (1:34) Or maybe it’s just like you have an overwhelming amount of debt.

(1:39) So maybe you’re drowning in debt and it could just be too difficult (1:42) to see the point of budgeting. (1:44) It might feel pointless when you’re already struggling to make ends meet. (1:49) So in that last category, maybe you just have impulsive spending.

(1:54) Your urge to spend money is really strong and it can be challenging for you to resist temptation. (2:01) So whatever the case may be, you are in the right place. (2:06) And I have a solution for you today.

(2:07) Right now, we are in the money talk series where we are normalizing talking about money. (2:15) Because let’s be real y’all, nobody likes to talk about money anymore. (2:20) It’s so sad.

(2:21) And I’m trying to just, you know, change that narrative. (2:24) Because the more we talk about money, the more money we can make. (2:27) The less we talk about money, the less money we can make.

(2:30) So don’t y’all want to start talking? (2:32) So today we’re going to talk all about it. (2:34) And the way that we’re doing this is that we have people submitting anonymous stories. (2:39) Meaning I don’t know who you are.

(2:41) They don’t know who you are, who are listening. (2:43) You submit your story. (2:45) I pick one.

(2:46) And then on the show today, I’m going to provide a solution based on biblical principles. (2:52) Because we keeping the big G-O-D up in everything that we do. (2:56) Oh, not me trying to be a spelling.

(2:58) No, I’m actually really bad at spelling. (3:00) Just ask my sisters growing up. (3:02) Anywho, so y’all, we just keeping God up in everything.

(3:05) So if you have a money problem and you want help, you can submit your anonymous story (3:10) just by going to the link in the description. (3:13) You don’t have to talk. (3:14) You just write it out, okay? (3:15) And so if it’s selected, then you might be our next mystery guest.

(3:20) But for today, y’all, let’s give it up for our mystery guest who is a male. (3:27) He’s 29 years old. (3:29) He’s single and ready to mingle.

(3:32) He’s a marketing coordinator. (3:34) He has an annual salary of $60,000. (3:37) His monthly expenses are around $2,500.

(3:40) And he lives in Northeast US, okay? (3:44) And so basically, y’all, he’s a young professional who is experiencing financial challenges (3:48) despite a seemingly comfortable lifestyle. (3:51) So his identity has been concealed for privacy reasons, but we’re going to call him Jason. (3:57) So here is what Jason has to say.

(4:03) I used to think budgeting was for old people. (4:06) I mean, I was bringing home a decent paycheck. (4:09) And I love spending it on experiences, travel, concerts, and trying new restaurants.

(4:16) That’s my thing. (4:17) But when I realized I wasn’t saving anything, I wanted to buy a condo, (4:24) but I wasn’t saving anything, so I couldn’t. (4:27) And so my savings just looked really, really, really pathetic.

(4:32) And every time I looked at a real estate listing, (4:34) I get a mix of excitement and just like a sense of dread. (4:39) And so at this rate, I’m gonna be renting for forever. (4:42) I just don’t make enough.

(4:44) I know I need to get serious about money, (4:47) but the idea of tracking every dollar feels just like so tedious. (4:52) And I’m just trying to figure out how can I budget better (4:57) so I can finally buy rather than rent. (5:01) Help me out, please.

(5:02) Now, Jason, if anybody gets it, I get it. (5:07) Like just never feeling like you’re making enough money (5:10) and that it’s impossible to like really budget. (5:13) And it’s right.

(5:14) You need savings in order to buy a house. (5:17) Like as a homeowner, I know the struggle when trying to go from renter to owner. (5:22) Like it ain’t all glitz and glamour like they make it.

(5:24) Like it’s real, okay? (5:26) So I feel you. (5:27) So if anyone listening feels Jason too, (5:30) and you’ve been struggling to get a budget together, (5:32) put a hashtag, I feel you in the comments, all right? (5:37) So we can know who we rocking with and who we’re gonna be helping. (5:41) And so the good news is I have three awesome tips (5:44) that I wanna share with you on how you can budget better, okay? (5:48) So the days of bad budgeting are over after today.

(5:51) And so before we get into the tips, (5:54) let’s take a look at a Bible story (5:58) because it’s story time. (6:01) So we’re gonna dive into, this is one of the weirdest ones, (6:04) but it’s so good. (6:06) The story of the ant.

(6:08) Yes, you heard that word like ant. (6:10) The ants go marching one. (6:12) Yes.

(6:12) The story of the, I also don’t own the rights. (6:15) Why am I always singing? (6:16) Anyhow, the story of the ants in Proverbs chapter six, (6:21) verses six through eight. (6:23) So if you don’t know, (6:24) the book of Proverbs is like filled with practical wisdom (6:28) for daily living, (6:30) much of which if you notice comes from observations of nature.

(6:35) And so in this passage, (6:36) the writer uses the ant as an example of like planning (6:40) and preparation. (6:41) So Proverbs six is like the ultimate hustler’s guide, okay? (6:46) So if you want that wisdom, that wisdom, (6:48) head over to Proverbs, okay? (6:49) It’s gonna give you all you need to know. (6:50) And so basically in this Proverbs six verse, (6:53) it’s saying, yo, like look at the ants.

(6:57) They don’t slack off. (6:58) They don’t have no boss. (7:00) They don’t have a nine to five.

(7:02) But guess what? (7:03) They’re always on it no matter what. (7:05) Summertime, they’re stocking up for winter. (7:09) Like they’re always planning ahead.

(7:11) That’s foresight y’all. (7:13) Like they’re thinking about what’s coming (7:15) and they’re planning for it in advance. (7:17) And so there’s really two key points (7:19) I wanna point out in this ant story (7:21) that we see in Proverbs.

(7:23) And so if you look at verse seven, (7:26) it says, it has no commander, no overseer or ruler. (7:32) And so y’all, do y’all get that? (7:34) Like nobody’s watching them. (7:35) So despite not having a direct person to supervise them, (7:40) no boss, nobody looking over them, (7:43) the ant is still working diligently.

(7:45) So this highlights the importance of like self-motivation (7:49) and personal responsibility (7:51) and managing your resources and time. (7:54) So like y’all, seriously, (7:56) you have to put in the work to manage your budget. (7:59) There’s not gonna be anyone saying, (8:02) hey, you better do this.

(8:03) You better do that. (8:04) There’s not gonna be anyone holding your hand. (8:06) Hey, let me baby you.

(8:08) Well, unless you work with a money coach like me, (8:10) I will always hold your hand. (8:11) But outside of that, (8:14) otherwise you’re gonna have to stick with it (8:17) and work hard on your budget all on your own. (8:20) If you wanna see results.

(8:22) So your budget only works if you use it. (8:26) Your budget only works if you work it for you. (8:29) Wait, that don’t even make no sense.

(8:30) I was trying to go there with something, (8:32) but let’s just stick to your budget only works if you use it. (8:36) And so you can’t just let it sit idle. (8:39) So when no one’s looking and you know, (8:41) you’d be like, let me just get this.

(8:43) Like, it’s not no big deal. (8:44) Nobody’s gonna know. (8:45) Yes, God’s gonna know.

(8:47) You gonna know. (8:48) Somebody gonna know. (8:49) And you’re probably like, oh, well, it’s not gonna hurt me.

(8:52) Yes. (8:52) If you think it’s not gonna hurt you, (8:54) it probably gonna hurt you (8:54) because you’re already thinking about it in advance. (8:56) So, you know, just don’t do it.

(8:58) The ant still does what it’s supposed to do (9:01) to prepare for the future. (9:02) Even if no one’s watching. (9:04) It’s called integrity.

(9:05) And you need integrity and self-discipline (9:08) when it comes to budgeting. (9:10) Okay. (9:10) So y’all let’s be like the ant and do stuff (9:13) and keep our budget together.

(9:14) Even though nobody’s checking for us. (9:16) Okay. (9:16) So the second key principle in this ant story (9:19) is wise management.

(9:21) So if we look at verse eight, it says, (9:23) yet it stores its provisions in summer (9:26) and gathers its food at harvest. (9:29) Do y’all get it? (9:30) So like the ant is instinctive. (9:32) Like he instinctively knows to gather and store food (9:35) during times of abundance to ensure that it has enough (9:39) during times of scarcity.

(9:41) Okay. (9:41) So it’s not when you get all the money, (9:43) you just spend it. (9:44) It’s like when you get all the money, (9:45) you start to save it and prepare (9:47) and put it aside for your budget.

(9:49) So when hard times do fall, (9:50) you have enough money in place to handle it. (9:53) Okay. (9:53) So this really reflects the principle of budgeting, (9:57) setting aside resources when they are plentiful (10:00) so we can prepare for future needs.

(10:02) So you should be budgeting (10:04) regardless of your circumstance, (10:06) whether you feel like you have a lot of money (10:08) or a little bit of money, (10:09) the ant is still doing what it got to do to prepare (10:12) and you should do the same. (10:12) So when people say like, (10:15) I can’t budget because I don’t have enough money. (10:18) You know what? (10:19) The answer, just budget with what you have.

(10:21) Like we all have to start somewhere. (10:23) Start with where you are at. (10:25) And so this story about the ant encouraged us (10:28) to adopt a proactive and disciplined approach to budgeting.

(10:34) And so the ant’s wisdom, (10:35) cause that ant is pretty smart. (10:37) Like never really think about it. (10:38) But if you see them ants just like all around, (10:40) they working, they doing something.

(10:41) So the ant’s wisdom reminds us (10:44) that even small and consistent efforts (10:48) can lead to significant benefits over time. (10:53) So next time you’re feeling lazy (10:55) or you don’t wanna stick to your budget, (10:57) just remember the ants go marching (10:59) and you need to be marching too. (11:01) So honestly, if ants can do it, you can do it too.

(11:05) So let’s talk about how we can be more like the ant (11:09) and plan effectively with a budget. (11:12) And so first let’s like circle back to Jason. (11:15) And so, because Jason mentioned something (11:17) that a lot of people say, (11:18) he said that he didn’t have enough money to budget.

(11:21) And here’s the deal y’all. (11:23) It’s not that you don’t have enough money. (11:25) It’s that you aren’t managing the money (11:27) you do have wisely.

(11:29) There is approximately 2 billion people in the world (11:32) who live on less than $3 a day. (11:35) 50% of people live on less than $5 a day. (11:40) And about 70% of the world lives on less than $10 a day.

(11:46) So compared to the rest of the world, you are wealthy. (11:51) So y’all just let that sink in. (11:54) People are actually living on $10 a day.

(11:58) And we’re over here complaining about what again? (12:02) No, God has entrusted you with so much. (12:06) So let’s just steward it wisely. (12:08) Whether you believe it’s a lot or not, (12:10) it’s more than what most people have, (12:12) which means it’s a lot if you put it in perspective.

(12:15) So we have to steward it wisely, (12:17) whether it’s a little bit or a lot, okay? (12:19) So let’s hop in to tip number one (12:22) to effective budgeting is reducing expenses. (12:26) This one’s simple, but we’re gonna look at it a different way. (12:29) Because when people think about reducing their expenses, (12:32) our mind automatically goes to, (12:35) like, I gotta cut stuff out.

(12:37) But that’s no fun. (12:38) Like I believe as Christians, (12:40) we should still be able to enjoy life (12:42) and we shouldn’t be taking everything out. (12:44) So what if I told you that there’s a way to spend less (12:47) without cutting out things that you love? (12:49) Wouldn’t you love that? (12:50) But guess what? (12:51) There is a way.

(12:52) All you have to do is change your perspective (12:54) on what reducing expenses is. (12:57) So if you think of it as saving rather than cutting, (13:00) then this will get you a little bit farther. (13:03) So one great way to do this is by using loyalty programs.

(13:07) So like right now, (13:09) Chevron has a deal where you can get $1 off (13:12) every gallon of gas for the next three visits. (13:15) So what does this do? (13:17) It saves me about $45 this month. (13:21) So I’m able to reduce expenses (13:24) without cutting out, let’s say, a Starbucks trip.

(13:28) So I can have a Starbucks (13:29) and still reduce my budget by $45 (13:32) just by joining the Chevron loyalty program, okay? (13:35) My gas is expensive. (13:36) I don’t know what y’all’s is, but any amount counts. (13:39) If you look at whatever, how much your gas costs, (13:41) take $1 off, like that’s a lot of money to be saving (13:44) and you get to do it three times.

(13:46) And so that’s just one example. (13:48) There is similar loyalty programs (13:50) for all other types of expenses, (13:51) like groceries at different stores and things like that, (13:55) that you can join to get money off. (13:57) So if you really tap into all of the loyalty programs, (14:01) you could realistically save $100 to $200 a month.

(14:05) Like I know, again, like I said, it’s unconventional. (14:08) It might be annoying to have to do all these loyalty things. (14:11) But if you think about saving $100 to $200, (14:14) don’t you think it’s worth it? (14:15) Because you don’t have to cut back on expenses.

(14:18) You just reduce your spending by saving. (14:21) Boom, y’all, like it’s that easy. (14:24) Save money and still buy what you love.

(14:26) You can’t get better than that. (14:28) Because honestly, most people don’t get into financial trouble (14:32) because they make too little. (14:33) It’s because they spend too much.

(14:37) So let’s just start spending less. (14:39) It’s simple, right? (14:41) Tip number two to effective budgeting (14:44) is to implement a zero-based budgeting approach. (14:48) So this method is all about giving every dollar a job.

(14:52) So basically at the beginning of each month, (14:54) you assign your income to specific categories (14:56) until you have $0 left, $0 left, $0 left. (15:03) This doesn’t mean you’re spending everything, (15:05) but rather every dollar is accounted for, (15:08) whether it’s for savings, bills, groceries, or entertainment. (15:13) Zero-based budgeting basically forces you (15:15) to be intentional with your money.

(15:16) So it can help you prioritize your spending (15:19) according to your financial goals. (15:21) So for example, if paying down debt is a priority, (15:25) you might allocate more money to that category (15:27) and less to like discretionary spending. (15:30) So here’s how you can kind of get started.

(15:32) So first, you’re gonna wanna calculate your monthly income. (15:36) How much do you make a month? (15:38) Then you wanna list all of your expenses, (15:40) including your savings and debts that you owe. (15:44) And then you wanna assign your income (15:46) to each expense category until every dollar is allocated.

(15:51) And then throughout the month, (15:53) you wanna track your spending against your budget categories (15:56) to ensure that you’re staying on track. (15:58) And so if you overspend in one category, (16:00) all you have to do is adjust another to balance it out. (16:03) It’s not the end of the world.

(16:04) So this method like provides flexibility, (16:07) but it also provides a clear picture of your finances (16:11) and really helps you to control your spending. (16:14) I really love zero-based budgeting, okay? (16:16) So check that out. (16:17) And so before we get into the third tip (16:20) for how you can actually stick to your budget, (16:22) because once you have a budget, (16:23) y’all know the hardest part is sticking to it.

(16:25) So we’ll talk about that in the third tip. (16:27) But first, let’s check out something (16:29) from one of our partners that will help you budget, (16:34) make your budget more impactful. (16:35) So check this out.

(16:37) It’s totally free. (16:38) Hey, Wealth Builders. (16:39) Let’s talk about taking your finances to the next level.

(17:40) Like it gives you more money (17:41) so you can have more to play in your budget. (17:43) So we’re gonna hop back in to tip number three (17:46) to effective budgeting, (17:47) which is using a budgeting tool (17:50) to help you stick to your budget. (17:53) So the days of Excel spreadsheets are over.

(17:56) No, I’m joking. (17:57) Like Excel will always be relevant. (17:58) Not gonna knock it.

(17:59) But come on y’all, we are in the 21st century. (18:02) We have apps that can do everything automatically (18:04) for us. (18:05) So no more manual budgets (18:06) unless you just really like that.

(18:08) But if you swipe your card, (18:10) the app will track it and categorize it. (18:13) So during the month, (18:14) you can keep track in real time (18:16) with how you are spending your money (18:18) as it applies to your budget. (18:20) And so these apps can even send you notices (18:23) when you’ve gone over (18:24) or you’re about to go over.

(18:26) And so this is basically digital accountability. (18:30) Y’all like I can’t do a budget (18:31) cause nobody’s holding me accountable. (18:32) Get an app to let you know (18:34) what you’re doing and what you’re not doing.

(18:35) And so my favorite budgeting tool (18:38) is called Monarch Money. (18:40) It gives you a complete picture (18:42) of your financial health (18:43) and allows you to create and manage budgets (18:46) and set financial goals (18:48) and track your progress over time (18:50) plus like so much other things. (18:51) And so one of my favorite features of Monarch Money (18:54) is its ability to provide personalized insights.

(18:59) So basically like it can analyze (19:00) all of your spending patterns (19:02) and suggest areas where you can cut back (19:04) or save more. (19:06) So think kind of like a detailed analysis (19:09) that is gonna be really helpful (19:11) for you to like kinda identify (19:13) and course correct throughout the month. (19:15) And so you can really show you (19:16) your financial habits (19:17) that might be holding you back (19:19) that you otherwise might not have known.

(19:20) So you can go ahead and download Monarch Money (19:22) using the link in the description. (19:25) And if you use my specific link, (19:26) you will get a really cool deal, (19:28) special just for the people who click that link. (19:30) So make sure you click that one.

(19:32) Okay. (19:32) And so trust me, (19:33) using Monarch Money (19:34) will make you more likely (19:36) to stick to your budget. (19:37) So just go ahead and try it out.

(19:39) Like what do you have to lose? (19:40) Okay. (19:41) So these are the exact three tips (19:44) that I took to create a budget (19:47) that allowed me to like buy my house (19:49) and like live the life of my dreams. (19:51) Like I had to budget for a little bit, (19:53) but now my budget is a lot more flexible.

(19:55) But because I budgeted, (19:56) I’m now able to live a more free life. (19:59) And so it’s not, (20:01) it’s really by implementing these biblical principles (20:03) that I’m able to have that freedom in my budget now. (20:06) So, you know, you got to sacrifice now (20:08) to live later.

(20:10) Okay. (20:10) And so we talked about a lot of stuff. (20:12) So let’s run it back.

(20:14) Let’s do a quick recap. (20:16) Okay. (20:16) So we started with Jason (20:18) who felt like his income was too low (20:20) to effectively budget (20:21) as he was trying to buy a house.

(20:24) We tied that into the story of the aunt (20:28) in Proverbs 6 verses 6 through 8 (20:31) that encourages us to adopt a proactive (20:34) and disciplined approach to budgeting. (20:36) And then we connected it all together (20:38) with three tips to help you budget effectively. (20:42) Tip number one was to reduce expenses (20:45) by saving with loyalty programs.

(20:48) Our tip number two was implement (20:50) a zero-based budgeting approach (20:51) where basically every dollar gets a job. (20:54) Tip number three was use a budgeting tool (20:56) to help you stick to your budget. (20:58) And I recommended Monarch Money.

(21:01) And so y’all, that’s it. (21:03) I’m so excited that you stayed. (21:04) For those who stuck around to the end, (21:06) I’m glad you’re still with us.

(21:08) Go ahead and give this episode a like (21:10) and rate it a five. (21:12) It will help me out tremendously. (21:13) And as promised for staying until the end, (21:16) your action for the week is to drum roll.

(21:20) I’m just joking. (21:21) To sign up for one loyalty program (21:24) that will help you save money. (21:26) So it could be a gas program, (21:28) a grocery loyalty program, (21:30) or any other type.

(21:31) There’s so many, (21:32) but those are great places to start. (21:33) So check out a program, sign up for it (21:35) so you can start saving today. (21:38) And so let me know that you are committed (21:41) to completing this action (21:43) by leaving a hashtag loyalty program (21:47) in the comments, okay? (21:48) That’s how I know you’re real and serious about this (21:51) if I see you put hashtag loyalty program, okay? (21:53) So, and if you already have a loyalty program, (21:55) let me know which one you’re using in the comments.

(21:58) The more, the better. (21:59) We always wanna know what other people are using (22:01) so we can use it too, okay? (22:02) And so y’all know before we head out, (22:04) we gotta put in that good prayer to our good God (22:07) because he is doing good things. (22:09) And so let us all, let us pray.

(22:12) So dear heavenly father, (22:14) thank you for today. (22:16) Thank you for my listeners, Lord. (22:18) I just thank you for all of our new listeners.

(22:20) I welcome them and I pray that you bless them. (22:22) I pray that you continue to have them tune in (22:25) so they can get this good knowledge (22:26) that you’re providing through these biblical principles, (22:29) Lord. (22:29) We pray that people start to budget, Lord.

(22:31) We pray that any anxiety, any discomfort, (22:36) any hesitations around budgeting (22:38) are released from them today, Lord. (22:40) That we release all of that from their lives (22:41) so they can step into financial blessings, Lord. (22:45) So they can step into financial increase (22:47) so that they’re able to really increase our finances (22:50) and manage it better (22:51) so they can really step into opportunities (22:53) that will allow them to advance the kingdom, (22:55) allow them to use their gifts, (22:58) allow them to enjoy life and have fun, Lord.

(23:00) We pray that budgeting is going to be easy (23:03) over each of their lives, Lord, (23:04) and that budgeting will be something (23:06) that they actually enjoy, Lord. (23:07) We pray that your desires become their desires, (23:10) which you desire us to be good stewards of our money. (23:13) So I pray that you instill in them (23:15) the desire to manage their money well (23:17) and stick to their budget, Lord.

(23:19) We pray that you provide the accountability (23:21) that they need to budget wisely (23:23) and that their budget just transform their life (23:25) in ways that they cannot imagine, Lord. (23:27) We pray all of these things in your mighty name (23:29) and we all say, amen, amen, amen. (23:34) All right, and so y’all know, (23:36) I never want to end episode (23:37) without giving you the opportunity (23:39) to enter into a relationship with God.

(23:41) Y’all, maybe your budget’s a mess. (23:43) Your money’s a mess. (23:44) You literally might’ve did something really bad (23:47) with your money or did something wrong to get money (23:49) or just idolizing money (23:50) or maybe it has nothing to do with money (23:53) and you’re just not living the life (23:54) that God called you to live.

(23:55) It doesn’t matter because God loves you (23:58) just the way you are and you can be redeemed. (24:01) You can be renewed in Christ today (24:03) and enter into a real relationship with God, (24:06) be washed clean as snow (24:08) and spend eternity with our Father. (24:11) So if that’s something that you want (24:13) and you really just want that fresh start, (24:15) then all you have to do is repeat this simple prayer.

(24:19) It’s very short. (24:20) All you have to say is and repeat after me is, (24:24) Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. (24:32) And that’s it.

(24:33) That’s it. (24:34) If you prayed that prayer, congratulations (24:38) and welcome to the kingdom of heaven. (24:42) We are all so excited for you.

(24:44) This is like a really, really, really big decision (24:46) that you decided to step out in faith and follow Jesus. (24:51) And so we wanna celebrate you. (24:53) So be sure to click that link in the description (24:55) to get a special gift to help start your faith walk.

(24:59) This is super exciting and so amazing. (25:01) I’m so proud of you. (25:02) God is so proud of you.

(25:04) Congratulations. (25:05) So y’all, let’s give it up for those (25:06) who just gave their life to Christ. (25:08) And if you enjoyed this episode, (25:10) be sure to subscribe and share this (25:13) so more people can get this good word, okay? (25:16) So thank you so much for joining me.
